Nokia Australia recently donated a number of handsets to Vision Australia for their product review program. Vision Australia is the largest provider of services to people who are blind or vision impaired in Australia, assisting more than 38,000 children and adults to live the lives they choose. |
|
Vision Australia was formed through the merger of Royal Blind Society, the Royal Victorian Institute for the Blind, Vision Australia Foundation and the National Information Library Service.
Vision Australia works with people to enable them to experience life to its fullest. They offer a range of services that can be tailored to a person's level of vision and their individual needs.
These mobile phones have the capacity to convert the text on the screen into words or large print. They are the only phones on the market that are receptive to this specialist software, effectively increasing access to communication for people who are blind or vision impaired.
Luisa Ferronato from Vision Australia said, "These handsets will enable our service providers to show the variety of styles of mobile phones available and demonstrate the various emerging adaptive technologies suited to those who cannot see the screen."
