Students training at Lidcombe TAFE training for qualifications in telecommunications engineering are now able to gain valuable, hands-on experience following a recent donation from Nokia of handsets, testing equipment and mobile product.


Nokia has had a long relationship with Lidcome TAFE, having in the past donated Nokia network GSM test lab equipment worth over one million dollars. The latest donation provides mobile handset product to compliment the network equipment.

"With mobile telecommunications constantly evolving it's great that we get some support from Nokia to assist our students with more up-to-date technology," said Phillip Lennon, Head Teacher, Telecommunications.


Franco Salaun, is also one of the Head Teachers of Telecommunications at Lidcome TAFE and has been involved with Nokia for a number of years. "Thanks to support from companies such as Nokia we aim to provide quality training provided to our students and give the opportunity to gain valuable experience using real, live networks and mobile equipment, we hope to not only help current students realise their potential, but also continue to attract promising new talent into the industry."
